As we are seafood suckers, definitely would like to try out the famous Jimbaran beach side restaurants - was told both the view and food are unbelieveable. Re Jimbaran Seafood Cost 13 years ago Hi, To give you an idea, for a small Tuna, a dozen tiger prawns, 2 small bintangs, Salad, Soup and Veg Rice and Greens + a Teh Botol I paid 150 000 rp at Lia Cafe. On the northern part close to the airport and middle sometimes Close to Keraton Hotel if you go with a taxi, you will be given the "special menu" about 30% more expensive than if you show up by yourself. But it happens in many places, not only jimbaran One day at Lia Cafe, as I always go there, they showed me the 2 different sets of menus... 30% difference. Arrive early to watch the sunset over the bay with a nice cold drink and then order the food. One with regular prices and another one if you come with a taxi or mainly if a tour brought you there. Then it's 30% more expensive to account for the kickback. If you do come with a taxi, go walk on the beach and choose your restaurant from there, you'll see the table setup platic or Tek, if it's crowded etc... Lia Cafe group of restaurants is at the corner of Jl Pemelisan Agung and Jl Pantai Pedonganan. Not sure if it helps but if you do intend to be brave enough to drive in Bali I can give you directions and landmarks along the way from Kuta. If you have a map, the central stretch is on the left side of Jimbaran Puri Bali and Keraton Hotels when facing toward the land. The first time we went to Jimbaran Bay we paid way too much as apparently we were supposed to barter but it was our second night and we didnt know. This was many years ago though. Last year we went again with friends and it cost a fortune. We were taken there by a driver my husband and I had 6 king prawnsand they are huge and a small snapper to share and the kids had a basket of chips, plus 2 cool drinks, 2 beers, 2 cocktails and it cost over $100 AUD. We actually didnt have enough money on us so we had to borrow some from our friends. It was the most bland, boring mealseved with bolied rice & condiments on our entire trip and by far the most expensive. I am not saying all Jimbaran retaurants are like this but just beware as we have had 2 bad experiences and will not bother again. Re Jimbaran Seafood Cost 13 years ago dining at jimbaran bay is more about the beautiful sunsets. do be careful as some places are overpriced and some put weights in the fish or have rigged scales so you are paying more than you should. not saying all places are like this just letting you know it does and can happen. fresh seafood is available in many places not just jimbaran. one restaurant many of us have tried is in sanur right on the beach, very cheap but they offer the good fresh seafood. this is called kesuma and is in southern sanur you can find it by walking south of the mercure hotel. The atmosphere is very casual and relaxed. don't expect 5 * service. there are places in jimbaran which may appeal to you and some research before you go will help you choose a suitable restaurant. take a look at bali eats web site. another web site which gives some information is Fortuin cafe. there are some good photos of the beach front, sunset and of course the food the restaurant offer. they also organise sunset cruises and a meal as a 'package' they offer free transfers from many hotels in south bali. We had a kilo red snapper, 3 chili crabs, 20 satay sticks, calamari, and five HUGE prawns and a lobster; 4 cocktails and 4 large bintangs and this came to around 1,200,000 rupiah around $130 Aus. Don't worry too much about getting ripped off - 200,000 rp will get a very nice fresh fish meal, with beer and this is a bargain as well as being very fun. They have very basic kitchens and I have always had mushy or overcooked seafood unfortunately. It's still worth a trip though. If you are in Seminyak, the Blue Ocean do excellent fish and seafood. Was not too adventurous then, second day in Bali, not feeling like driving and miss the sunset... I asked for the middle section and he drove me directly to the back of a restaurant in the first section close to the airport. I was not pleased and stormed out of the cab really pissed.
